Instagram Non-Followers: See Everyone Who Doesn't Follow You Back
Short answer
If you searched "Non Followers" hoping for the app, here is the short version: any app that logs into Instagram on your behalf is the kind that gets accounts blocked. Your Instagram non-followers — the people you follow who don't follow you back — are already listed in your own data export. Download it, drop the ZIP here, and the count is free.
Instagram non-followers are the accounts you follow that do not follow you back, found by subtracting your followers list from your following list in the data export Instagram gives you.
How it works
- 1
Request a Followers and following export
In the Instagram app go to Settings and privacy → Accounts Centre → Your information and permissions → Export your information → Create export. Pick your Instagram profile, tick only Followers and following, set the date range to All time, the format to JSON, and choose Download to device.
- 2
Collect the ZIP when Instagram emails you
A followers-only export is normally ready in 10–20 minutes. Instagram sends an email with a download link that stays valid for four days; the same file is also listed on the Export your information screen.
- 3
Upload the ZIP on this page
Pick the ZIP in the uploader above. Your browser reads the followers and following files locally, compares them, and shows the result straight away. Nothing is sent to a server, and you can close the tab whenever you like.
No login. No password. Your export never leaves your browser.
"Non Followers" the app vs non-followers the list
The phrase does double duty. "Non Followers" is the name of several apps on the App Store and Google Play, and it is also the plain description of a list: everyone you follow who hasn't followed you back. If you want the list, you don't need the app. The apps work by asking for your Instagram username and password, signing in from their own servers, and reading your followers and following pages as if they were you. That is the part Instagram objects to, and it is the part this page avoids entirely.
UnfollowChecker produces the same list from a different source: the official data export that Instagram lets every account download. You request it inside the app, Instagram builds a ZIP, and you upload that ZIP here. No password is typed anywhere except into Instagram itself. If you have ever wondered whether unfollow checkers are safe, the honest answer is that it depends on whether they want your login — and this one doesn't.
What a non-follower actually is (and isn't)
A non-follower, in the sense this page uses, is an account that appears in your following list but not in your followers list. It is a one-directional relationship: you chose to follow them, they have not reciprocated. It says nothing about whether they ever followed you — some never did, some followed and later left. If you want the second group specifically, that is a different question answered by the free who unfollowed me tool, which needs two exports taken at different times.
A non-follower is also not the same as an inactive or ghost follower. Ghost followers follow you but never engage; non-followers don't follow you at all. The export can list the second group exactly and cannot identify the first, because it holds no likes or comments — see the follower audit page for what the export can and can't reveal about who follows you.
Getting the list from your own export
Instagram's export lives under Accounts Centre → Your information and permissions → Export your information → Create export. The screen offers every category of data your account holds; you only want Followers and following, which keeps the file tiny and the wait short. Choose All time for the date range — a narrower window drops older follows and makes the comparison wrong — and JSON as the format, because the JSON files carry usernames and timestamps in a structure the tool reads without guessing. Finish with Download to device.
Ten to twenty minutes later an email arrives with a link. Save the ZIP, come back to this page, and upload it. The browser unpacks followers_1.json (plus any numbered continuation files) and following.json, turns each into a set of usernames, and shows the difference. If you only wanted the raw lists, the following export page hands you a free CSV of exactly that file.
Reading the result: count, preview, full list
The first thing you see is a number: how many of the accounts you follow don't follow you back. That number is free, every time, with no account on this site. Underneath it is a blurred preview of a handful of usernames so you can see the list is real. Alongside the non-follower count you also get your fans count (people who follow you that you don't follow back) and your mutuals count, and you can download free CSVs of your complete followers and following lists with follow dates.
The full non-followers list — every username, with a link to each profile and the date you followed them — unlocks for a one-time $2.99. The same list is emailed to you as a CSV so you don't have to keep the tab open. There is no subscription, no account, and the ZIP is never stored anywhere. The sibling page on who doesn't follow me back covers the same result from the question's side; this page exists for people who arrived by the "non followers" name.
Why login apps get accounts blocked
Instagram's systems watch for sessions that don't look like a human on a phone: a login from a data-centre IP, immediately followed by rapid page-by-page reads of a followers list, is a textbook pattern. The usual first consequence is the Action Blocked message, which stops you following, liking or commenting for hours or days. Repeat offences can lead to a forced password reset or a suspension. Apps in this category also come and go from the stores under changing names, which is not a reassuring lifecycle for something holding your credentials.
The export route has none of these problems because nothing logs in anywhere. Instagram built the export for you to use; reading it in a browser is no different from opening the files on your laptop. You can run it as often as you like, and the result is identical to what a login app would scrape — minus the risk.
What this tool can't do
It can't look up non-followers for an account that isn't yours, because the only input is an export you download while signed in to your own profile. It can't press the unfollow button for you; mass unfollow automation is the other thing that triggers blocks, so you do that by hand at a sensible pace. It isn't live: the list reflects the moment Instagram generated your export, and a new question needs a new export. It also doesn't see likes, comments or story views, so it can't rank non-followers by how engaged they are. The same checker runs for Threads from the same Accounts Centre export.
Frequently asked questions
Is the "Non Followers" app safe to use?
Any app that asks for your Instagram password and logs in on your behalf carries a real risk of an action block or suspension. Getting the same list from your own data export involves no login and no third party holding your credentials.
Do I need to install anything to see my non-followers?
No. You request the export inside the Instagram app you already have, then upload the ZIP to a web page. The comparison happens in your browser; there is no app, extension, or account to create.
What does the free tier show?
The number of accounts that don't follow you back, a blurred preview of a few usernames, your fans and mutuals counts, and free CSV downloads of your full followers and following lists with follow dates. The complete non-followers list is a one-time $2.99.
Does the export include private accounts I follow?
Yes. Your following list in the export contains every account you follow, public or private, because it is your own data. Privacy settings only affect what other people can see on those profiles.
Why are some accounts missing from my non-followers list?
Accounts that were deleted or deactivated after you followed them appear in the export as placeholders without a username. UnfollowChecker leaves them out of the list and shows how many it skipped, so the count stays honest.
Does this work for Threads too?
Yes. Threads shares the same Accounts Centre export; choose your Threads profile instead of Instagram when creating it, then upload the ZIP to the Threads checker on this site. The result is laid out the same way.
Ready to check your own account?
Free to see your count. Full list of usernames unlocks for $2.99.
