Who doesn't follow you back on Threads
Short answer
Threads has no screen listing who doesn't follow you back, but Meta's Accounts Centre lets you export your Threads followers and following lists as JSON. Request the export for your Threads profile (not your Instagram account), upload the ZIP here, and you'll see every account you follow that doesn't follow you — no login, nothing uploaded.
A Threads data export is the ZIP file Meta's Accounts Centre produces for a Threads profile; it contains followers and following lists in the same JSON format as an Instagram export, which is what makes a browser-side comparison possible.
How it works
- 1
Open Accounts Centre from Threads
In Threads tap your profile → menu → Settings → Account → Accounts Centre. (The same Accounts Centre is reachable from Instagram; your Threads profile is listed alongside your Instagram account.)
- 2
Export your Threads profile
Go to Your information and permissions → Export your information → Create export, and choose your Threads profile. Select only Followers and following, date range All time, format JSON, delivery Download to device.
- 3
Download and upload the ZIP
Threads exports are small and usually ready within minutes. Download the ZIP and drop it on this page. The comparison runs in your browser.
No login. No password. Your export never leaves your browser.
Threads is a separate export from Instagram
Although Threads logs you in with your Instagram account, Meta stores the two follow graphs separately and exports them separately. An Instagram export does not contain your Threads followers, and vice versa. In Accounts Centre's export flow you pick which profile to export; pick the one with the Threads icon. If you only see your Instagram account listed, open Accounts Centre from inside the Threads app rather than from Instagram, and the Threads profile appears.
The files inside the ZIP use the same structure as Instagram's: a list of entries, each with a profile link, a username, and a timestamp. That's why the same comparison works. The one visible difference is that profile links point at threads.com (older exports used threads.net), so when you open an account from your results it opens in Threads, not Instagram.
What the export can and can't tell you
The export gives you three exact lists for the moment it was generated: accounts you follow that don't follow back, accounts that follow you that you don't follow back (your fans), and mutuals. Each entry carries the date the follow happened, so you can sort the non-followers by how long you've followed them.
It can't show engagement, it can't show who viewed your profile, and it can't show who unfollowed you from a single file. For unfollowers you need two Threads exports from different dates — upload both to the who unfollowed me tool, which accepts Threads exports as well as Instagram ones.
Why not use a Threads unfollowers app?
Threads launched in 2023 and the app ecosystem around it is thin, so most "Threads unfollow tracker" apps are Instagram apps with Threads bolted on. They work the same way: you give them your login, they sign in as you, and they scrape. Threads shares Instagram's account system, which means an action block or suspicious-login lock on Threads is a lock on your Instagram account too. The export route avoids that entirely because nothing ever logs in on your behalf.
The manual route exists as well: Threads shows a Follow back button on profiles that follow you, and you can search inside your own followers list. For a few dozen follows it's fine; the export is faster past that.
Common export problems on Threads
If the export only contains Instagram data, the wrong profile was selected at the Create export step — re-run it and choose the Threads profile. If the ZIP contains followers.json but UnfollowChecker reports zero followers, the date range was probably set to something shorter than All time; a short range drops older follows. If the download link has expired, Meta keeps the export available on the Export your information screen for four days, after which you request a new one. The Instagram export troubleshooting guide applies to Threads as well, since both go through Accounts Centre.
What this tool can't do
It can't check a Threads profile that isn't yours — only an export you download from your own account. It can't unfollow for you, and it doesn't update live; request a new export when you want a fresh answer. Threads profile links in the results open threads.com; if you've renamed your Threads handle since following someone, that account's link may be stale.
Frequently asked questions
How do I see who doesn't follow me back on Threads?
Export your Threads profile from Accounts Centre (Your information and permissions → Export your information → Create export → choose the Threads profile → Followers and following, JSON, All time), then upload the ZIP to the Threads checker. It lists every account you follow that doesn't follow you back.
Is the Threads export the same as the Instagram export?
No. They are separate exports of separate follow graphs, requested from the same Accounts Centre. Choose the Threads profile at the Create export step. The file format is the same, so the same tool reads both.
Is it safe? Does it need my Threads password?
No password, no login. You download the export from Meta yourself and the comparison runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, and nothing logs in to Threads or Instagram on your behalf.
Can I see who unfollowed me on Threads?
Yes, with two exports from different dates. Upload the older and the newer ZIP to the unfollowers tool and it lists accounts that followed you in the first and not the second. That comparison is free.
How long does a Threads export take?
Usually a few minutes for a followers-only export. Meta emails you when it's ready and lists it on the Export your information screen for four days.
