UnfollowChecker vs DolphinRadar
Short answer
DolphinRadar is a web service that monitors any public Instagram account you name — yours or someone else's — and emails weekly reports of follows, unfollows and activity for $4.49 a month or $32.99 a year. UnfollowChecker compares the followers and following files in your own data export, in your browser, with no account and no subscription. They answer different questions: DolphinRadar watches a profile over time; UnfollowChecker tells you exactly where your own account stands right now.
If the account you want to watch isn't yours, DolphinRadar is the tool and UnfollowChecker simply can't help; if it is yours, UnfollowChecker gives you a complete list today for $2.99 instead of weekly reports on a subscription.

Where DolphinRadar is stronger
- Tracks any public account by username, including accounts that aren't yours.
- Weekly follow and unfollow reports with email alerts and an accumulating history.
- Mutual-follower detection and downloadable CSV reports on every plan.
- Nothing to install and no password or export step.
What to weigh up
- Collects follower data from Instagram's public pages on its own servers, which Instagram's terms treat as automated collection; the exposure is DolphinRadar's rather than yours, since nothing runs from your account.
- Public accounts only — a private account (yours or anyone else's) cannot be tracked at all.
- Reports update weekly, so an unfollow can take up to a week to appear; the plan page says history accumulates only from the day you subscribe.
- One tracked account per subscription; tracking two profiles means paying twice.
- No free tier for follower tracking — you pay before you see whether the data is useful.
How each one works
DolphinRadar never asks for your password. You type a username, and its servers collect that account's public follower and following data on a schedule, then compile weekly reports: who followed, who unfollowed, mutuals, top commenters and so on. Because it works from public pages, it only works on public accounts, and it can track accounts that aren't yours. Each subscription covers one tracked account; a second profile means a second subscription. There is also a standalone Unfollower Tracker priced at $9.90 for a one-time report or $8.90 a month for weekly updates.
UnfollowChecker never connects to your account. You ask Instagram for your own data (Accounts Centre → Export your information → Followers and following, JSON, All time), Instagram emails you a ZIP in roughly 10–20 minutes, and you drop that ZIP on this site. The comparison runs in your browser tab; the file is never uploaded. The count is free, the followers and following CSVs are free, and the two-export unfollowers comparison is free. The full list of who doesn't follow you back is a one-time $2.99, with fans and mutuals a $3 add-on.
Safety and account risk
Neither tool touches your login, so neither can get your account restricted the way password apps can. The difference is where the data comes from. DolphinRadar collects it by reading Instagram's public pages at scale, which Instagram's terms classify as automated collection. That exposure is DolphinRadar's rather than yours — if Instagram tightens access, the reports get thinner or stop, but your account is untouched. There is also a privacy angle: the service exists so people can watch other accounts, and anyone can watch yours if it's public.
UnfollowChecker reads a file Instagram gave you about your own account. Nothing is collected from anyone, nothing leaves your browser, and the method can't be shut off by an access change on Instagram's side. We lay out the five checks on how we test; both tools pass the password check, and only UnfollowChecker passes the private-API check.
What you get
DolphinRadar's strength is time. Subscribe, and from that day it accumulates a history: follows, unfollows, mutual-follower changes, with email alerts and CSV downloads on every plan. Its limits are the flip side: reports are weekly, so an unfollow can take up to a week to show; history starts on the day you subscribe, not before; and private accounts return nothing. We could not confirm a straightforward "everyone who doesn't follow me back" list in its follower tracker — it is built around changes, not a full reconciliation.
UnfollowChecker's strength is completeness. One export gives the full non-followers list, fans and mutuals for your account, private or public, as of the moment Instagram generated it. Two exports give who unfollowed you in between, free. Both lists download as CSV, free. What it lacks is everything DolphinRadar is for: no monitoring, no alerts, no other people's accounts.
Price
DolphinRadar has no free follower-tracking tier. Plans are $4.49 a month, $10.99 a quarter or $32.99 a year for one tracked account, with the standalone Unfollower Tracker at $9.90 for a single report or $8.90 a month. The quarterly and annual plans add AI insights and story tracking. You can cancel from the dashboard and billing stops at the next cycle.
UnfollowChecker's count, CSV downloads and two-export unfollowers comparison are free. The full non-followers list is $2.99 once; fans and mutuals are $3 more. If you only want to know where you stand, that is the difference between $2.99 and $32.99 for the first year.
When DolphinRadar is the better choice
Choose DolphinRadar when the account you want to watch is not your own — a brand you manage for a client without login access, a competitor, a public figure. UnfollowChecker cannot do this under any circumstances, because only the account owner can request an export. Choose it too if you want an ongoing, hands-off record of your own public account's follower changes with email alerts, and you're happy with weekly granularity.
When UnfollowChecker is the better choice
Choose UnfollowChecker when the account is yours, especially if it's private (DolphinRadar can't see it), when you want the whole non-followers list rather than a stream of changes, or when you don't want a subscription. It also handles Threads and TikTok exports, which DolphinRadar doesn't cover. For the no-password approach in general, see checking without a password.
Frequently asked questions
Can DolphinRadar track a private Instagram account?
No. DolphinRadar reads public follower data, so it only works on public accounts. UnfollowChecker works on private accounts because it reads the export you download from your own account, which always contains your full lists.
Can UnfollowChecker check someone else's account?
No. It only reads a data export, and only the account owner can request one. If you need to watch an account that isn't yours, a public-tracking service like DolphinRadar is the only option.
Does DolphinRadar need my Instagram password?
No. You enter a username and it collects public data on its own servers. Nothing runs from your account, so it cannot get you restricted the way login-based apps can.
How often does DolphinRadar update?
Reports are weekly, and history accumulates from the day you subscribe. An unfollow can take up to a week to appear. UnfollowChecker shows the exact state of your account at the moment Instagram generated your export — fresh whenever you re-export.
Which is cheaper?
DolphinRadar starts at $4.49 a month or $32.99 a year for one tracked account, with no free tier. UnfollowChecker's count and CSVs are free, and the full non-followers list is a one-time $2.99.
