How each one works

Search either store for InstaFollow and you'll find more than one app with that name from different developers. InstaFollow Followers Reports promises real-time unfollower tracking, a not-following-back list, profile viewers and suspicious-activity detection; the profile-viewer and who-blocked-you claims are only possible by connecting to your account, because Instagram exposes no permitted route to that data. A separate Instafollow – Unfollow Tracker (iOS 18 and later) works the way we do, by importing your data export on-device, and charges $3.99 a week or $39.99 a year for it. This page treats the login-based apps as the main comparison, because that is what most people installing "InstaFollow" get.

UnfollowChecker never connects to your account. You ask Instagram for your own data (Accounts Centre → Export your information → Followers and following, JSON, All time), Instagram emails you a ZIP in roughly 10–20 minutes, and you drop that ZIP on this site. The comparison runs in your browser tab; the file is never uploaded. The count is free, the followers and following CSVs are free, and the two-export unfollowers comparison is free. Safety and account risk

Connecting a third-party app to your Instagram login is what Instagram's terms prohibit, and it is what the platform's systems look for. The most recent App Store reviews of InstaFollow Followers Reports include one user whose account was gone the day after paying for Premium, and another who was charged for a year shortly before losing the account. We can't say what caused those outcomes — reviews are reports, not investigations — but they are exactly the pattern password-based checkers produce. Any app offering profile viewers is also selling something Instagram doesn't provide, which is a reason to doubt the rest of the list.

The login-based InstaFollow apps show unfollowers, new followers, a not-following-back list and a follower-count history, with push notifications. Reviews mention that the lists come with no way to act on them and no analytics, and that the app is thin beyond the lists. The export-based Instafollow adds mutuals, one-sided follows, a history chart and multiple accounts, all on-device.

InstaFollow Followers Reports: $4.99 a week, $9.99 a month or $59.99 a year. The export-based Instafollow: $3.99 a week or $39.99 a year. Weekly billing is the thing to watch — $4.99 a week forgotten is about $260 a year, for a list that a single export comparison provides.

When InstaFollow is the better choice

If you want a notification the moment someone unfollows, or a chart of your follower count over time without keeping files, a phone app is the format for that and InstaFollow is one option among many. If you go that way, prefer the export-based Instafollow over any version that asks for your password: you get the chart and the history without the login risk, and you can cancel after a week.

When UnfollowChecker is the better choice

If you don't want to guess which InstaFollow you've installed, don't want to hand over a password, and don't want a weekly charge, UnfollowChecker is the simpler choice.
