It depends on why you followed them. If an account gives you nothing — no content you enjoy, no relationship, no follow-back — it's taking up space in your feed and your 7,500 follow limit for nothing, and cutting it is pure upside. But strict “unfollow everyone who doesn't follow back” is a blunt rule that will cost you accounts you actually like. The smarter version: get the full list of non-followers, then decide deliberately.
Good reasons to cut non-followers
- Your feed improves. Every account you follow competes for feed space. Dropping dead weight means more of what you actually want to see.
- Follow-for-follow accounts played you. Accounts that followed, waited for the follow-back, then quietly unfollowed are gaming their ratio at your expense. There's no reason to keep holding up your end.
