Best Instagram unfollowers apps for Android

Short answer

On Android the safest option isn't an app: UnfollowChecker reads the data export Instagram drops into your Downloads folder, in Chrome, with no login and nothing to install, and shows your non-follower count free. If you want an installed app, Unfollowers Tracker on Google Play reads the same export without a password. FollowMeter, Followers Track and InstaFollow all need your Instagram login, which is why they are ranked last.

Google Play has a worse version of the iPhone problem. The top results for "unfollowers" are overwhelmingly sign-in apps, several of them near-identical listings from different developers, and the export-based apps that do exist have a fraction of the downloads. Install count is a terrible guide here: the most-installed app on this page is also the one whose reviews mention Instagram restrictions most often. Several well-known iPhone export apps have no Play Store listing at all, which narrows the field further.

Ranking follows the five checks on our how we test page: tools that never see your password rank above tools that log in as you, and within each tier we rank on what you get on an Android phone. Android has one real advantage over the iPhone here. When Instagram's export is ready, the ZIP lands in your Downloads folder, and Chrome's file picker can open it directly, so an export-based web page behaves almost like an app. That is why a web tool is at the top of an Android list.

What we don't rank: APK mirrors of apps that have left the Play Store, and anything that automates unfollowing, because mass actions are the second most common cause of action blocks after password apps. For the step-by-step on a Samsung or Pixel, including where the ZIP goes and how to open it, see the Android unfollow checker guide.

    UnfollowChecker

Works from your data export, no login · Web, any device

UnfollowChecker is a web tool, and on Android that is the point. Request your export (Instagram → Accounts Centre → Export your information → Followers and following, JSON, All time), wait for the email, and the ZIP saves to Downloads. Open this site in Chrome, tap the upload area, pick the ZIP, and the comparison runs inside the tab. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is installed, and no login is involved. Free: the non-follower count, your followers and following as CSVs, and the two-export unfollowers comparison. Paid: a one-time $2.99 for the full list of who doesn't follow you back, plus a $3 fans-and-mutuals add-on.

Why first: it passes the password and private-API checks outright, works for private accounts, and the full list costs less than one week of any subscription on this page. What it can't do: there are no live alerts, because nothing is connected to your account; it can't check anyone else; and there is no icon in your app drawer unless you add the page to your Home Screen from Chrome's menu, which takes two taps and works well.

Best for: the one-off clean-up, private accounts, and anyone who would rather not grant an app anything. The Android walkthrough shows the Downloads-folder step and what to do if the ZIP opens as a folder instead.

    Unfollowers Tracker (unfollowerstrack.com)

Scans profiles through Instagram's private API · Web

Unfollowers Tracker (on Google Play as Unfollow Tracker for Insta, by Beyond Soft) is the installed version of the same idea. You export your Instagram data as JSON, import the file in the app, and it builds a report on the phone: who unfollowed you, who doesn't follow back, and growth over time. The listing says no Instagram login is required and nothing is uploaded, and because the only thing it ever asks for is a file, you can confirm that yourself in the first thirty seconds: there is no sign-in screen to get past.

It is free to start, with ads and in-app purchases for extra reports. Two things keep it below the web tool. It has a short review history and a small install base next to the login apps, so the long-term track record isn't there yet, and keeping it current is on you: a fresh export, a fresh import, every time. There is no live feed because, like every export reader, it isn't connected to anything.

Best for: someone who wants an app icon, repeat imports and growth charts without a password, and doesn't mind ads. See the Unfollowers Tracker comparison for the feature-by-feature table.

    FollowMeter for Instagram

Needs your Instagram password · iOS, Android

FollowMeter is the long-running cross-platform option, on Google Play as well as the App Store, and the first entry on this list that asks you to sign in with your Instagram username and password. Once logged in it shows unfollowers, ghost followers, story viewers, and a live activity feed with history. The free tier is a teaser; Plus is $3.99 a week, $4.99 a month or $24.99 a year, Pro is a one-off $8.99, and features like Secret Admirers and Blockers are $1.99 packs, billed through Google Play.

It is the best of the login apps because its features are genuinely different from what an export can give you: history over time and alerts when something changes. It is still in the bottom tier because of how it gets them. Reviews mention Instagram "suspicious activity" warnings, temporary restrictions, forced sign-outs after using it, and features moving behind the subscription. Instagram's terms don't allow a third party to log in as you, and that is exactly what this app does.

Best for: someone who has weighed the risk and wants live history. Everyone else should read the FollowMeter alternative page first.

    Followers Track for Instagram (Reports+)

Needs your Instagram password · iOS, Android

Followers Track is a family of sign-in apps best known on iPhone, where the main listing has over 55,000 ratings; on Google Play the name is shared by several look-alike listings from different developers, and every one we opened uses the same model. You log in with your Instagram credentials, then it lists non-followers, recent unfollowers, inactive followers and engagement per post. The iPhone version runs a three-day trial and then charges $4.99 a month or $23.99 a year, and the Android listings follow the same subscription pattern.

It sits below FollowMeter because it carries the same login risk with a weaker record. Reviews mention "violated community standards" warnings on the connected account, non-follower data that stops updating after subscribing, login errors and crashes. The engagement charts are the one thing it offers that a free export doesn't.

Best for: not much that FollowMeter doesn't do better. If you are already using it, the Followers Track alternative guide shows how to get the same list from your export.

    InstaFollow

Needs your Instagram password · iOS, Android

InstaFollow (from INNOVATTY) is the oldest login app here and shows it. It signs into your Instagram account to list who stopped following you, new followers, mutuals and fans, with paid extras for most and least active followers and spam detection. It racked up around 1.4 million downloads on third-party APK sites, but the last Android build we could find dates from early 2022 and reviews there average 2.4 out of 5. Reviews mention it stopping after Instagram changes and the paid unlock adding little.

An app that logs in as you *and* hasn't kept up with Instagram's changes is the worst of both worlds: the risk of a password app with none of the reliability. Don't confuse it with the similarly named Instafollow export reader on the App Store, which is a different developer, iPhone-only, and works from your data export rather than a login.

Best for: nobody, at this point. If it is still on your phone, sign out, change your Instagram password, and use the InstaFollow alternative page to get the same lists from an export.

How this list was made

Each app on this page was installed from Google Play on a test Android phone with a throwaway Instagram account and put through the five checks in how we test: does it ask for your password, does it use Instagram's private API, what do recent Play Store reviews report, what does it actually show, and what does it cost after the trial. No tool here pays us, there are no affiliate links, and we never log a real personal account into anything. Prices were checked on 12 October 2026; Google Play's listing is the authority on the day you buy.

Frequently asked questions

Is there an Instagram unfollowers app for Android that doesn't need a login?

Yes. Unfollowers Tracker (Unfollow Tracker for Insta) on Google Play reads your Instagram data export instead of logging in. UnfollowChecker does the same thing in Chrome with nothing to install. Most other Play Store trackers want your Instagram username and password.

Which Instagram unfollowers app is safe on Android?

Any app that only reads your data export is safe, because it never connects to your account. Apps that sign in with your Instagram password are the ones whose reviews mention suspicious-activity warnings and temporary blocks.

Where does the Instagram export go on Android?

Instagram emails a download link; tapping it saves the ZIP to your Downloads folder. Open the checker in Chrome, tap the upload area, and pick the ZIP from Downloads. Don't unzip it first unless the tool asks for JSON files.

Can I use the web tool like an app on Android?

Yes. In Chrome, open the menu and choose Add to Home screen. The page gets an icon in your app drawer and opens full-screen. It still can't send unfollow alerts, because it isn't connected to your account.

Does FollowMeter work on Android?

Yes, FollowMeter is on Google Play with the same subscriptions as the iPhone version, billed through your Google Play account. It requires your Instagram login, which is why it ranks below the export-based options.

Will any Android app show who unfollowed me in real time?

Only apps that log in as you, such as FollowMeter, can alert you the moment someone unfollows. Export-based tools show changes between two exports instead, which is safer but not live.
